Disc Jockey WiKi EdIt
I haven't edited my wikis in a while so I thought I better get to it. This edit is about the hottest DJ to come out of the University of Delaware. DJ Amaze. I added that DJ Amaze was (born Dave Mays) started his radio career at WMPH Super 91.7 FM but soon began guest DJing on well-known stations like KISS 101.7 FM and Philadelphia's notorious Power 99 FM. I could also have added how he used to spin records in his room in pencader residence hall. He would make mixes and hand them out on campus. I will try to post more info about local DJsbecause I myself am a DJ. So if anyone needs a DJ for any occasion comment me and let me know.

Brand Extensions
In class we were discussing brands and how important the establishment of brand loyalty and familiarity is when attempting to make a product successful. If a brand has value it has many advantages when dealing with customers. I wanted to focus on the ability to launch new products as brand extensions. A brand extension is a new product under the same brand name. This new product has an edge over other products just because of the brand name. Customers who have relied on the name before will be more accepting of this new product and more willing to try it out. This is especially the case for Google. Google has launched a number of services, including Google Earth; Google Finance; Froogle and Google Local. I was browsing on Slashdots website and came across a blog about a new product being launched by Google. It is called 1-800-Google Launches.
I thought it was amazing how Google is now getting off the Internet and into the phone land lines, cell phones and text messaging. Customers are now able to access information without a computer and without the use of a web browsing mobile device. Some features of this new search is you can find a business listing by category. Just say "pizza," for example. You can send the listing details to your mobile phone via SMS(text messaging). The service is fully automated, so it doesn't rely on human operators. It connects you directly to the business, free of charge. Pretty much everyone uses Google and they have a place in our hearts and we will be more likely to use this new product because of the brand value of Google.

stiuqxela
The rest of the semester we will be conducting a little experiment to see how search works and how it can be manipulated. We are to blog the key word stiuqxela with a link to www.packers.com.. We will see how key words and inbound links and key words in anchor texts of links will affect the search. Also we can get a prize at the end of the semester if our blog comes up as the number 1 site when stiuqxela is searched.

Google Takes New Privacy Steps
I was looking on some of our required blogs and stopped on John Battelle's Searchblog. The article about google caught my eye since we were discussing google in class this week. Google collects an outstanding amount of information about all of their users. What is being searched, IP addresses and cookie files are stored on googles servers. It is stored on there for as long as it is usefull. Im sure this makes some users uneasy that all of this information is accessable to Goggle, but im sure other people such as marketers are foaming at the mouth to get this info. They are plannin on making the info anonymos after it is stored after 18-24 months. Why 18-24 months? It seems like a long time to keep this information. What are they doing with this info? Are they using it for
advertising purposes? They say they will be making the searches more private and allow for searches to be off the record. Will these new privacy practices make it easier for people to search for dangerous items with out being caught or will it just skew the results on how much pornography is looked at each day. I guess we will have to wait and see the true effect of these privacy changes.

Wikipedia Edit "The Bob"

I added some information to the Bob Carpenter Center wikipedia article. I added that the building was named in honor of the late benefactor and trustee, R.R.M. Carpenter Jr., .Students at the University of Delaware have given it the nick name "The Bob." I also added a picture of the front of the building which I found on a University web site. More information and pictures to come so don't worry.

Doing Business in Your Bathrobe
I was sitting around in my Pjs and came across an blog that actually talked about a Holiday for doing business in your bathrobe. I was participating in a holiday and I didn't even know it. The blog was an interview on the Diva Marketing site that discussed an internet site called WEBMOMZ. Kristie Tamsevicius is the creator and said she made the website for moms who want to make money on the internet from home. She said she wanted to come up with a celbration for anyone who was a home business owner. This celebration would become a "holiday" where people wear their bathrobe on february 12th and basqe in the glory of being able to sit in your Pjs and conduct business as usual. This "holiday" serves as a marketing strategy to attract people to her website where they can learn more about becoming an entrepruner or just get some tips about internet business. The interviewer asks Kristie what are some ways an entrepruner might promote his own marketing "holiday." Kristie responded by saying you need a big idea that gets peoples attentions. Secondly , finding a sponser will give amazing credibility to your idea. Third , find a way that people can be part of it. She suggested BLOGGING. She said that bloggers have done a great deal in spreading word of her holiday and in turn her website. In class we learned that Viral Marketing is key in getting customers to engage with other customers and spread the word about a product or idea. From there marketers can check the blogs to see how their product is holding up in the eyes of the consumers because most blogs are customers gut feelings and they usually don't hold back. This inisight is extremely hard to get by other means of marketing research. Blogs make it almost too easy.
